Judge Pate Named daniel’s First Trustee Emeritus

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Honorable Judge Dorothy Pate was named as daniel’s first-ever Trustee Emeritus, during their 125th birthday celebration on May 30, in recognition of her many years of exemplary service to youth in the community. A Trustee Emeritis is entitled to exercise all rights, responsibilities, and privileges of Trusteeship, except the right to vote at Board meetings.

“In our entire organization’s history, we’ve never named a Trustee Emeritus before now” said daniel President and CEO Jim Clark, who presented Pate with a plaque at the event. “Judge Pate truly deserves this special honor for her many years of devoted service to child advocacy and we look forward to having her as an honorary board member.”

Judge Pate, the first elected female judge in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, helped found the Northeast Florida Guardian ad Litem program and the Family Nurturing Center of Florida. After eighteen years of service on the bench, Pate is now retired and serves as a daniel ambassador and Trustee.

The Melting Pot Hosts Ladies’ Night Fondue-raiser for daniel

Jacksonville, FL — The Melting Pot raised more than $800 for daniel kids during their monthly Ladies’ Night Out fund-raising event held July 18.  Though the restaurant chain is well-known for their national philanthropy, owner Dan Addison sought a way to give back to the local community.

“This is the first time that we’ve ever held the event for Jacksonville charity and we are thrilled to be supporting a wonderful organization like daniel” said Addison. “It’s nice to know that even in these tough economic times our community will sacrifice to help those in need.”

The Melting Pot collected various prizes that were donated by local businesses, including Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery and Massage Bliss & Day Spa, then raffled them off throughout the evening with the proceeds going to assist the local abused and neglected children at daniel.
